The Bibliotheca Wittockiana, Museum of Bookbinding and Book Arts, is located in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Brussels.



Originally a private library bringing together the collection of bindings by Michel Wittock, Belgian industrialist and bibliophile, and opened to the public in 1983, in a building designed and built by the Brussels architect Emmanuel de Callataÿ, the Bibliotheca Wittockiana has become a recognized museum with the center of major importance of Bookbinding and Book Arts. In 1996, inaugural opening of the first edition of the book by Charly Wittock, son of the founder, with an amphitheater relating to public access to a library of documentation essential to literature and literature.



The Bibliotheca Wittockiana is housed in its museum which is therefore mainly devoted to art. It is preserved in a unique collection of decors from the most recent decor styles through five centuries, from the Renaissance to contemporary creations. Another collection this prestigious constituted by Michel Wittock, the museum also keeps various remarkable ones such as the cabinet of his maternal grandfather, Valère Gille - better known later under the name of Valère-Gille - poet and last director of Jeune Belgique, the Lucien Bonaparte collection (free, letters, photographs), as well as free names of contemporary artists, free objects and sculptures. Finally, the Bibliotheca Wittockiana opens a unique collection of some 500 precious rattles, an astonishing and unusual set that comes from all over the world and covers a period of forty centuries of history.



Temporary exhibitions, theses of bookbinding and free, on organizations each year at the Wittockiana which amounts to a meeting of rebirth and creation of events. A relaxing workshop with all complementary, not every day a new impetus to creative binding.



In 2010, Michel Wittock created, within the King Baudouin Foundation, the Michel Wittock Fund and endowed it with the most representative part of his collection. Funds are physically kept at the Wittockiana:
