Security
With the exception of some known high risk areas (mainly in urban areas) and easily identifiable, tourist Brazil has a medium safety profile. Thus, as a rule, some caution and attention is advised when walking on foot in urban centers, especially at night, even in places of high tourist frequency, because of the possible occurrence of robberies and theft, sometimes with great physical violence.

Transporting and displaying any objects that may be viewed as valuable is not recommended. In the event of a robbery, one should never offer the least resistance or seek escape, given the high possibility of being subjected to violence.

Motoring at night or using taxis that are not accredited by the tourist authorities or recommended by hotel units should be avoided.

Tourists are advised to bring only photocopies of their documents, leaving the originals in the hotel safe.
Weather
Summer is warm and oppressive; Winter is long, mild and with strong winds. During the year, the weather is cloudy and partly cloudy. Throughout the year, the temperature generally ranges from 13 ° C to 29 ° C and is rarely below 8 ° C or above 32 ° C.
The best times of the year to visit Florianopolis and warm weather activities are from late March to late June and from early August to early December.
Tourist points
Tourism is the region's main economic activity, which also has an important technology hub and is the largest captive oyster producer in Brazil.
Among the main historical attractions are the fortress of São José da Ponta Grossa, next to Jurerê beach, the Customs building (1875), Praça XV de Novembro, the Victor Meirelles House Museum, one of the oldest buildings in the city. and the famous Public Market. Conceição Lagoon, 15 km long, is one of the most traditional places in the city and the Jurerê district with its luxurious mansions and fine restaurants and bars, attracting many young people due to its lively nightlife. The most popular beaches for surfers are Joaquina, Praia Mole, Praia Campeche and Praia Brava.
Gastronomy
The strong influence of Portuguese and Azorean settlers is perceived in cooking. It is a paradise for those who like sun, sea and fresh fish. Local cuisine is typical of beachfront cities: the main course always involves seafood. The typical dishes of Florianópolis gastronomy carry a Portuguese cultural heritage, mixed with some indigenous traits, especially in spices.
Presentation
Florianópolis is the capital of the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. It is mostly made up of the 54 km long Santa Catarina Island. It is famous for its beaches, including popular tourist resorts such as Ingleses Beach on the north end of the island. Its Conceição Lagoon, a saltwater lagoon, is popular for windsurfing, boating and other water sports.
Florianópolis is divided into two parts: one is Santa Catarina Island, the other is on the mainland. The two are joined by the beautiful Hercílio Luz bridge, one of the main postcards of the city.
